Musico
faces Thorton in Las Vegas this weekend Danny Musico will be bringing the law with him to Las Vegas this weekend, as Nutley's super middle weight professional boxer looks to handcuff Tony Thorton. Musico enters the toughest fight of his career against Thorton on an undercard bout of the Larry Holmes-Oliver McCall fight and the Julio Caesar C havez-Giovanni Parizi bout. With a record of 11-1 that includes 11 knockouts in the super middle weight division, Musico , who is 26, faces an elder Thorton, a journeyman of the boxing ranks who has held the WBO championship and has also been a top contender for championship titles. Musico, who is a correction's officer in the Essex County jail, brings with him to the fight the support of P.B.A. 153, which will be exhibited on his robe. Considered
one of the weight classes hardest punchers, Musico describes himself as
more of a puncher than a fighter. Musico,
who was a U.S. Amateur champion with a record of 64-4 with 58 knock outs,
added, "I have always had a following because of my knock outs, and
now people expect it." "I am looking to punch and hit him to the body, and in the later rounds, hopefully he will stand in front of me and I'll come away with a win," said Musico. According to Don King, who promotes Musico, his chances of becoming a champion and making millions are right there, as long as Musico stays focused. Musico adds thanks to P.B.A. 153 for their support as well as thanks to his very supportive family. Musico has resided in Nutley for the last six years, but has been a part of the town all of his life. Musico's one main goal in the end though is to provide for that special girl in his life, Christina. "I want to make enough money in order to build-her the house of her dreams, with an island kitchen and a swing on the front porch," concluded Musico. << BACK to PRESS |
